Lotus Flower - Buddhism

This is one of my Lotus Flowers, Acrylic over Gold Leaf.

Lotus flower meaning in Buddhism

In Buddhism the lotus flower is known to be associated with purity, spiritual awakening and faithfulness. The flower is considered pure as it is able to emerge from murky waters in the morning and be perfectly clean. Therefore in common with Egyptian mythology the lotus is seen as a sign of rebirth, but additionally it is associated with purity. The breaking of the surface every morning is also suggestive of desire, this leads to it being associated with spiritual enlightenment.

As Buddhism stems from a different part of the world to Egyptology, there are many more colors of lotus to be seen. So it is not too surprising that the many different colors have come to be associated with different aspects of Buddhism. The main symbolism of the lotus flower and their meanings are given here.

  1. Blue Lotus: The blue Lotus is associated with a victory of the spirit over that of wisdom, intelligence and knowledge. If you get to see it a blue Lotus in Buddhist art you will notice that it is always depicted as being partially open and the centre is never observed.
  2. White Lotus: this color lotus is known to symbolize Bodhi (being awakened), and represents a state of mental purity, and that of spiritual perfection; it is also associated with the pacification of one’s nature. This lotus is considered to be the womb of the world.
  3. Purple Lotus: known to be Mystic and is associated with esoteric sects. It can be shown depicted as either an open flower or as a bud. The eight petals of the purple Lotus are representative of the noble eightfold path; one of the principal teachings of the Buddha. Following this path is thought to lead to self awakening, and is considered one of the noble truths.
  4. Pink lotus: this is the supreme lotus and is considered to be the true lotus of Buddha.
  5. Red lotus: this is related to the heart, and the Lotus flower meaning is associated with that of love and compassion.

Lotus Flower- Hinduism

This is one of my Lotus Flower paintings, Acrylics over Silver Leaf.

The Lotus Flower and its meaning in Hinduism

Perhaps one of the strongest associations of the lotus flower with religion is that that is observed in Hinduism. In this religion the lotus flower meaning is associated with beauty, fertility, prosperity, spirituality, and eternity.

The most common form seen in Hinduism is the white lotus flower. Many of the gods and goddesses of Hinduism are linked to the flower, for example the goddess of prosperity, Laxmi, is usually depicted as being seated atop a fully opened lotus flower. Likewise Brahma, the god of creation is depicted as emerging from a lotus that crawls from the Naval of the sustainer Lord Vishnu.

As a lotus is able to emerge from Muddy Waters un-spoilt and pure it is considered to represent a wise and spiritually enlightened quality in a person; it is representative of somebody who carries out their tasks with little concern for any reward and with a full liberation from attachment.

It is very interesting how the open flower and the unopened Lotus bud forms are associated with human traits. The unopened bud is representative of a folded soul that has the ability to unfold and open itself up to the divine truth.

Immortality

My Painting: Lost in my Blue Garden, 155 cm X 185 cm,
Acrylics with Genuine 24 k. Gold and Genuine 12 K White Gold

Immortality

To become truly immortal, a work of art must escape all human limits: logic and common sense will only interfere. But once these barriers are broken, it will enter the realms of childhood visions and dreams.

Starting a new painting

STARTING A NEW ARTWORK

When I start painting, I like to prepare first the air, first some Incense and Mantras to clean the mind & aura, this helps me to get more creative since it soothes and calms... To refreshen up for this hot days a jar of Lemon Grass Tea it´s just perfect... Then I stand in front of the canvass, and think.. what am I going to do with you to transform you into a gorgeous piece? I start thinking of a color that inspires me at the moment, then I just star painting, playing with colors and forms I think that everything is spontaneous, thats what makes my art so fun and enjoyable... have a great saturday!

Humor, Laughter Teraphy

Artwork: Happy Sesen

Patients, doctors and health-care professionals are all finding that laughter may indeed be the best medicine.

Laughing is found to lower blood pressure, reduce stress hormones, increase muscle flexion, and boost immune function by raising levels of infection-fighting T-cells, disease-fighting proteins called Gamma-interferon and B-cells, which produce disease-destroying antibodies. Laughter also triggers the release of endorphins, the body's natural painkillers, and produces a general sense of well-being.

Laughter is infectious. Hospitals around the country are incorporating formal and informal laughter therapy programs into their therapeutic regimens. In countries such as India, laughing clubs -- in which participants gather in the early morning for the sole purpose of laughing -- are becoming as popular as Rotary Clubs in the United States.

Humor is a universal language. It's a contagious emotion and a natural diversion. It brings other people in and breaks down barriers. Best of all it is free and has no known side reactions.

Positive Thinking

I´ve reads books and articles about the Power of Positive Thinking...

How did I discover it?

It all started when I was going thought a difficult time in my life, that my beautiful Mom (who is the best mother in the world, always there for us, teaching us, helping us and loving us with all her heart) ... she always told me that no matter the situation, no matter what was going on around me, that I must learn how to think positive about myself and about my "world" that I could really change what I was living, with a clear mind you always can make the best decisions, and that takes time to learn (tell me about it!)... and so I did.. slowly all the negative situations, all the negative people that were around me at that time, finally were gone... Now I only choose to have positive friends, positive people around me, because I know how a negative person can affect my life and contaminate all the things I´ve been working for...

Im telling you this because, thanks to this teachings and experiences, with so much patinece and persistence or practice, all that you wish in your life sooner or later comes true, maybe not in the exact way you were thinking but they will come to you.

Remember that nothing it´s impossible in this life

A book I recomend: "The Monk who sold his Ferrari"

Beautiful book a must in your library...

Color Therapy in Art - Colors for your Soul

Color is Light Energy that Affects Living Cells

This means that color can be used for healing and holistic practices dating back in ancient Egypt. Science have stated that light has its frequency and vibration, and we can take advantage of color therapy, by using it in our homes.

What is Color Therapy? It is simply an art of bringing overall wellness through the use of colors. The home is the perfect place to apply this concept, since it is the place where you rest, live and play - or work for some.

How to use Color Therapy? You can start by choosing colors that attract you and using it for your home's color scheme. It might surprise you that your body emits an energy field in colors, and what you don't like most is the color that is most abundant in your energy field. It may be hard when you like a lot of colors, but take that time to select your soul color.

What is the right color for you? If you are still having a tough time choosing that perfect color, look at the colors and observe the type of feeling a certain color gives you. If you want your bedroom to be comfy and vibrant at the same time, you can use neutral hues like cream, white and taupe to unify the colors. You can also do a collage of the colors you have chosen to see how the combination feels.

Colors and its Health Benefits:

Blue is a soothing color that gives a sense of peace and calm. The lighter it is, the better. In holistic practices, it is said to relieve anxiety, fever, and respiratory problem. This color is great for bedrooms and living areas. If you don't like blue, you can use red to balance it.

Red is the color of blood, and it is believed to help in blood flow and sexual drive. It is the color of strength and power. You may use this color discretely in your home by using accents of this shade.

Yellow is great for the nerves and promotes sharpness of the mind. It is a color that cleanses negative energy and toxins from the body. Yellow can also be chosen in the form of gold, which helps you feel assertive. This color is great for foyers, great rooms and living rooms.

Green is a color that balances all other colors. No wonder it feels good to have indoor plants inside the home. It makes you feel fresh, even on a 40 degree summer heat.

Orange is an energy booster and not too drastic like the color red. It is a color of creativity and joy, which can be perfect to brighten up that sad, boring space. You can use this color in your home office.

Violet is the color of wisdom, and it brings your mind and body to rest. This color is great for those suffering migraine or insomnia. For a feminine touch, hues of lavender can be used in the bedroom for that charm and serenity.

Review From Art Curator Giancarlo Von Nacher

About Paola González Artwork

Review from Art Curator Giancarlo Von Nacher

Paola Gonzalez Muñoz is a young painter who began her artistic journey at a very early age.

When working her way up in the artwork her first paintings were classified as figurative art, in the practice she developed her painting skills up to the point where she has mastered the abstract form of art.

This abstract form of art which is classified under the many different varieties of informal art is dependant to the inspiration under which the artist is driven to at the moment of such creation.

We could say that Paola’s technique when creating a masterpiece can be compared to that of Pollock’s “dell’ action painting” style, though her approach is very different due to certain changes during the evolving phases she has gone through during her artistic career. Furthermore, Paola’s paintings are more consistent to the art of the XXI century: to Pollock it was more important the randomness and the violent gesture in his paintings, and the ad-libbing in the process of his creations.

Once Pollock was finished with a masterpiece, according to him, such masterpiece will no longer have any significance or aesthetic value to him. This contradicts Paola’s convictions in all means, as to her the aesthetic value of a masterpiece is one of the most important factors, not to mention the previous planning when creating such artwork.

However, Pollock’s painting style is only one among the many varieties Paola carries out during her creations. Her radical variations in the process of creating an artwork do not follow any pattern in any way making these varieties never-ending: expressing themselves from the great “petreas” mountains, to compositions that capture certain naturalistic elements, to other aspects that even seem to be a thorough investigation of the microcosm, and some others to wide and spacious surfaces of a velvetish appearance. These particularly radical variations between an artwork from another, to a series from another, make her inexhaustible imagination and creativity unique.

Paola’s method when creating an artwork using oil and acrylic paint consists of splashing and dripping such substances with the aid of spatulas and brushes of her choice.

She is a typical western painter who strives to avoid the “horror vacui” from her creations, where as to the eastern painters they do on their compositions.
Maintaining the basis of the general abstract painting, Paola accentuates the “resonance” value of each color spot in every area of her composition, stressing out the force and importance of such art piece in the traditional value of every color within the combination of all shades and colors and the game these colors play as a whole combined together in harmony.

The effect of shades, tones, and other multiple chromatic combinations are clearly accentuated in most of Paola’s paintings, leaving the spectator fascinated by such delicate encounter and astonishing beauty.
